Role Overview

Our client is an established and growing groundworks and civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation across the Southeast. Delivering a diverse portfolio of residential, infrastructure and commercial projects, the business has built long-standing relationships with developers, contractors and repeat clients through consistent project delivery and a commitment to quality.

With a substantial pipeline of secured work, a significant proportion of current and upcoming projects involve large-scale residential groundworks packages, including roads and sewers, drainage, foundations, retaining structures, external works and associated infrastructure for major housing developments.

  • Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will play a key role in the commercial management of residential groundworks and civil engineering schemes from procurement through to final account. You will have significant autonomy across your projects whilst also supporting the development of junior surveyors and contributing to the wider commercial strategy of the business.
  • This position would suit an established Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to join a financially stable contractor with a strong workload, a collaborative management team and excellent long-term career prospects.

  • Preparation of cost/value reconciliations and commercial reporting.
  • Management of variations, compensation events and change control.
  • Identification and mitigation of commercial risks.
  • Client liaison and stakeholder management.
  • Mentoring and development of junior commercial team members.
  • Supporting business planning and commercial strategy.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within groundworks, civil engineering, residential infrastructure or related sectors.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent negotiation, reporting and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior team members.
  • Ambitious and career-driven with a proactive approach to commercial management.
