An established contractor operating within the structures and heavy civils sector is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a long‑term programme of technically complex works in the South West.

This role offers exposure to large‑scale structural and civil engineering projects, delivered within a highly regulated and operational environment, requiring strong commercial awareness and close collaboration with site and delivery teams.

Role & Responsibilities

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of structures and heavy civils projects from pre‑construction through to final account. Working closely with project managers, engineers and senior commercial staff, you will ensure robust cost control and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities Include:

• Commercial management of structures and heavy civils packages
• Preparing and managing project budgets, forecasts and CVRs
• Procurement and administration of subcontractor packages
• Assessing, pricing and negotiating variations and change control
• Preparing and submitting applications for payment
• Managing subcontractor payments and final accounts
• Working closely with site teams to maintain commercial accuracy
• Supporting risk management and value engineering initiatives
• Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and internal governance

About You

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within structures, heavy civils or infrastructure
• Comfortable managing subcontractor packages and commercial reporting
• Strong understanding of cost control, change management and final accounts
• Experience working on complex or regulated construction environments is beneficial
• Commercially astute, organised and proactive
• Confident communicator with the ability to work closely with site teams
