Senior Quantity Surveyor

Demolition & Cut and Carve Works

Location: Central London (site and office based)
Salary: £60,000 – £85,000
Working Pattern: Primarily site based with flexibility

We are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established main contractor specialising in demolition and cut and carve projects within existing structures across Central London.

This role sits within a dedicated demolition and cut and carve division, delivering complex structural alteration schemes that retain, adapt and reconfigure existing buildings, rather than demolishing and rebuilding from scratch. Schemes are typically delivered under JCT contracts and involve detailed, technically challenging work in tight urban environments.

The business is well known for its background in concrete framework projects, with the demolition and cut and carve department focused on enabling the transformation of existing assets into modern, redeveloped spaces.

Role Overview

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of demolition and cut and carve works from preconstruction through to final account.

This is a contractorside role, working closely with site and delivery teams to manage costs, procurement and commercial risk on live projects. The work is delivered predominantly under JCT contracts, with a practical, deliveryfocused commercial approach.

Key responsibilities

  • Commercial management of demolition and cut and carve projects
  • Cost planning, forecasting and commercial reporting
  • Preparation and submission of valuations and applications for payment
  • Managing variations, change control and final accounts
  • Administering projects under JCT contracts
  • Supporting procurement and subcontract package management
  • Working closely with site teams on complex structural alteration schemes

About You

This role would suit either a Quantity Surveyor ready to step up or an established Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to work within a stable contractor environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Background in demolition, cut and carve, structural alterations, concrete frame or heavy civils
  • Strong working knowledge of JCT contracts
  • A handson, contractorside mindset
  • Confidence working closely with site and project teams

What’s on Offer

  • Salary between £60,000 and £85,000, depending on experience
  • Stable pipeline of demolition and cut and carve works
  • Contractorside role with minimal unnecessary bureaucracy
  • Autonomy and responsibility within your role
  • Supportive management with traditional values
  • Longterm career stability within a respected Central London contractor
