The Opportunity
A leading groundworks subcontractor is seeking experienced Construction Managers to join their team on a major project in Bridgwater (Agratas). This is a key leadership opportunity within a large-scale development, offering the chance to take full responsibility for the delivery of groundworks and civils packages within a fast-paced and high-profile environment.

The Role
The successful candidates will be responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of groundworks packages, including earthworks, drainage, and substructure works. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, managing site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the works are delivered safely, on programme, and within budget. The role will involve close coordination with engineering, commercial, and client teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment across all project stakeholders.

You will take ownership of programme management, sequencing of works and resource allocation, ensuring all activities are planned effectively to meet key milestones. Responsibilities will also include managing subcontractor performance, monitoring progress, managing risk, and resolving any technical or logistical issues that arise on site. You will be expected to ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards, including the management of RAMS, permits, temporary works and site documentation.

In addition, you will work closely with the commercial team to manage cost control, variations and reporting, ensuring financial performance is maintained throughout the project lifecycle. Client liaison will form a key part of the role, maintaining strong working relationships and ensuring expectations are met or exceeded through proactive communication and delivery.

About You
The ideal candidate will have proven experience operating at Construction Manager or Project Manager level within groundworks or civil engineering, with strong technical knowledge of drainage, earthworks and substructure packages. You will demonstrate a successful track record of delivering projects on programme and within budget, with the ability to lead teams effectively in a high-pressure environment. Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills are essential, alongside relevant qualifications such as SMSTS and a valid CSCS card.
