Role Overview
Our client is a well-established groundworks and civil engineering contractor delivering projects throughout the Southeast. The business operates across residential developments, infrastructure works and commercial schemes and continues to secure repeat business from a growing client base.

With a healthy order book and a strong pipeline of residential groundwork projects already secured, the company is continuing to expand and is looking to strengthen its commercial team.

The Opportunity

• This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to progress their career within a successful and growing contractor.
• Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will receive hands-on support and mentoring whilst taking responsibility for your own projects. You will be involved in the commercial delivery of residential groundworks and civil engineering schemes, working closely with operational and commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• The role offers excellent exposure to a wide variety of projects and would suit an ambitious Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a business that can offer long-term progression and stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the commercial management of groundwork and civil engineering projects.
• Preparation and submission of valuations and applications for payment.
• Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers.
• Cost reporting and forecasting.
• Management of variations and change control.
• Assist with the preparation of final accounts.
• Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Liaise with site teams, clients and commercial stakeholders.
• Ensure contracts are administered correctly and project records are maintained.

About You

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor within groundworks, civil engineering, infrastructure or construction.
• Understanding of subcontractor procurement and cost management.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a project team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting systems.
• Full UK driving license preferred.
