Role Overview

An experienced Contracts Manager is required to oversee the delivery of groundworks and reinforced concrete packages on major infrastructure projects across the London region. This is a permanent, senior role requiring strong leadership, technical expertise and proven experience managing complex civil engineering works from pre‑construction through to completion.

The Contracts Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and within commercial targets.

Key Responsibilities

Full responsibility for the management and delivery of groundworks and RC packages across multiple infrastructure projects. Overseeing site teams including Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered in line with programme, specifications and contractual requirements.

Managing project planning, sequencing, resources and logistics to ensure efficient delivery in busy and constrained environments. Monitoring progress across all sites, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions where required.

Ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance are maintained at all times. Reviewing and approving risk assessments, method statements, temporary works procedures and construction methodologies.

Working closely with commercial teams to manage budgets, variations, valuations and final accounts. Maintaining strong commercial awareness to ensure projects achieve required financial performance.

Liaising with clients, engineers, designers and key stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and resolve technical or programme challenges.

Chairing regular progress meetings and providing clear reports to senior management on programme, cost, risk and overall project performance.

Supporting the development of teams and systems to drive continuous improvement, consistency and operational excellence across the business.

Required Experience

Proven experience working as a Contracts Manager on infrastructure projects involving groundworks and reinforced concrete. Strong technical knowledge of RC structures, foundations, heavy civils and enabling works.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within the London region. Strong leadership, communication and decision‑making skills.

Excellent knowledge of health and safety management on major infrastructure schemes. Commercially astute with experience managing substantial project budgets and programmes.

Qualifications

Relevant construction or civil engineering qualification preferred.
CSCS Card required.
SMSTS required.
Temporary Works experience advantageous.
